Recreating the debut scene of 'Zohakuten' a.k.a the 'Hatred' Demon from Demon Slayer in 3D- with some creative tweaks.
Originally planned to do a still render but got ambitious in the middle of the project so I decided to create dragons and everything and create an animation. There wasn't a strict initial idea I wanted as the end result - except recreating the character in a realistic style preserving as many characteristic traits as in the anime - so the animation almost felt like an improvisation. But I think it turned out fine- I was able to create what I envisioned in my head pretty closely. Just wish I could render this in a higher resolution with higher samples, but it is what it is.
The entire project took a little over a month to create- took it slow and used the time to experiment with different new tools and techniques. The character base mesh was generated using a Blender addon named 'Human Generator'. The environment models were created using 'Botaniq'. The rest of the models were created in Blender and textured in Substance Painter. The clothes were created and animated in Marvelous Designer. Also used Photoshop to create the textures for the eyes. Compositing work done in AfterEffects, color correction and grading in DaVinci Resolve. Used FL Studio to compose the soundtrack for the animation.
